The government of Canada has an immigration program designed for Nova Scotia and Atlantic provinces to assist employers hire foreign workers or international students to help meet labour shortages. Immigrate to Nova Scotia
To participate, the employers must first be designated and endorsed by the Province. The endorsed employers can then have their identified foreign workers apply to Canada Immigration for permanent residency or temporary work permit.
EMPLOYER Designation
To become a designated employer, the business must be in good standing. The employers must provide proof of labour needs and also agree to work with organizations to further retention and settlement.
EMPLOYER Endorsement
To receive an endorsement, the employer must show attempts to fill positions locally. Recruit the foreign workers and sign a full time, non seasonal job offer with them. The employer also must provide details of a settlement plan and onboarding details and intercultural training as required.
Foreign Immigration Workers
In order to apply for permanent residency, the worker must have a valid endorsement certificate from the province. Workers must have a provincial work permit referral letter, for those who require work permits. The employers must be registered on the federal employer portal with the job offer and compliance fee paid.
